Assembly Invitations: A Sad, Pathetic Anachronism
by metatron inso, witlesses are handing out assembly invitations locally for their gatherings to invite the public to attend...... .
a meeting that's 50, 100, 150 miles away?
there was an era when placards were put in storefront windows and bombastic sermons were delivered by radio.

Welcome CubicalDUDE!
"Only brothers have the immorality problem"
Really? Then who are the brothers committing immorality with? When the married service overseer and a single pioneer sister in an old congo of mine started doin' it, was her participation "moral"? In one congregation it happened twice that single sisters met guys in service that they later hooked up with, and later married.

I was 36 when I started posting here. This weekend I celebrated my 50th birthday!
by nicolaou inand i mean celebrated!
it was a cracking barbecue party for around 40 good friends and neighbours as well as my 'never jw' cousins and one of my brothers and his family.. .
drank a bit too much, embarrassed my kids with some 'dad dancing' and laughed until 2 in the morning.

Most absurd thing I heard at the convention yesterday!
by Batman89 inbrother lett was giving the last talk of the day about what they supposedly accomplished in 100 years.
i was just waking up so im paraphrasing alittle(i was dosing off all day) anyways in his introduction he said.
"there is more evidence to prove gods kingdom on the earth is a reality than wind, electricity and gravity is a reality on the earth".

"There is more evidence to prove Gods kingdom on the earth is a reality than wind, electricity and gravity is a reality on the earth"
What an idiot. Just because Lett doesn't understand wind, electricity, or gravity, it means they aren't reality? Perhaps he should grab a line labeled "high voltage", or step off a tall building, or stand in the path of a tornado. The fact is, if someone goes apostate against wind, electricity, or gravity, they get plenty of evidence, very quickly, that these are realities that deserve complete respect.
However, when I realized that Jehovah wasn't a reality and went apostate against the JW cult, I very quickly saw there was no evidence to prove that god had any such kingdom on earth. It was all a money-making hoax for WT Corp.

Advice Needed
by HeyThere inso my situation is changing and i am trying to figure out the best way for me to handle this.
i am an unbaptized publisher married to a dub who was inactive when we met and when we married and during the course of our marriage, and just went back active a year and a half ago.
he is a full believing dub.

"I want to withdraw my status as an unbaptized publisher but not be labeled an apostate."
It's hard to say exactly how any one congregation or the random publishers will react. The cult teachs that shunning is a "loving arrangement." So you can't expect them to react in rational ways.
My primary suggestion is to maintain healthy nonJW relationships. The JWs will try to isolate and control you. Be prepared to tell them "no".
As far as any doubts, you can try to deflect. "While trying to preach to my [sister, mom, friend, etc.], they posed this question. I was surprised and didn't know how to respond. I assured them that I would ask you and you would have an answer that I could bring back." It makes you a neutral intermediary, and that you're getting these questions by doing what JWs are supposed to do... shoving their religion down other people's throats.

Hmmm, with that scriptural encouragement I'll have wine on my Cheeries this morning and find a couple of Watchtowers to "study" later.

THE CURRENT FADING OF BRAND NAME "THE WATCHTOWER"
by steve2 inthe current fading of brand name "the watchtower" & the rise, rise, rise of jw.org.
the watchtower as brand name is in the process of being imperceptibly faded from visibility in the organization.
who'd have thought you could make a watchtower fade and disappear?

"It's just putting lipstick on a pig, nobody under 40 is going to be impressed..."
I dunno. Maybe if you also put some JW.org earrings on the pig there might be something.

What a huge difference this year.
by quellycatface inlast summer was pretty crap for me.

Actually, JWs aren't supposed to be handing out invitations and thank you cards at the KH for this very reason. Similarly, no business or exchanging of money.
